In
Windows 98 from
the "Start Menu", choose "Accessories",
and then "Dial up Networking".
You
will see the above box open up. Note that it may
have other Icons that are used to connect to other
Internet Provider(s). Your new connection to FaithNoMore
can safely exist alongside them.
Double
click on the "Make New Connection icon".
You
select a suitable name for the Service (you could
call it FaithNoMore) and your modem should appear
by default. If not then you should install the modem
correctly. Note: If you are also using an
ADSL service then make sure that you have NOT selected
the ADSL modem in this list - it must be a 56K analogue
modem or ISDN TA
Click
"Next"
The
area code is 0845 and the number is 665
1890 for Analogue Dialup but if you are using
ISDN then use 665 1886 instead.
Note:
This number is always charged at local call rates
from anywhere within the UK. Remember to add it
to your telephone company's discount number scheme
for extra discounts!
Then
press "Next" and then "Finish"
Using
the right hand mouse button, click on the icon you
have just created and choose "Properties"
from the menu.
Ensure
that "Use county code and area code"
is checked, and click the "Server Type"
button.
Uncheck
all of the boxes apart from "TCP/IP".
Click on the "TCP/IP Settings"
button.
Ensure
that "Server assigned IP address"
and "Server assigned name server addresses"
are selected. Normally "IP Header Compression"
is ticked (you can untick this if you have a poor
quality telephone line) and "Use default
gateway" should also be ticked.
Press
OK, and OK again.
Double
click on the Icon you created and enter "your
login name in the user name" and your password
as allocated in the Email that you received from
FaithNoMore. If you don't have one yet then you
can use guest@smartemail.co.uk and guest
to get you started.
Then
click "Connect"
Open
your web browser and you are connected to the Internet
for FREE. All you pay for is the local telephone
call - no monthly charges and you will never
get a bill from us.
We
don't disconnect you every 2 hours and you can use
us as much or as little as you wish. There are
no contracts or commitments.
